Our Remak™ Linear range combines grooving on the panels face, with perforation on its back, to create a panel that offers striking appearance and excellent acoustic performance. Creating a clean linear effect on walls and ceilings across a range of applications, this panel style offers a warm organic finish, ideally suited to use in lecture theatres, meeting rooms and public buildings.
Hotline:
Remak™ Linear acoustic panels give a high performance, sound absorbing surface with extensive finish options including Melamine, real wood veneers, and RAL matched paint. The distance between the Grooves can be altered with smaller widths generally increasing acoustic performance. We provide a full joinery service as well as acoustic advice so the panels can be well integrated in to the space with all ancillary items matched to provide continuity across the finishes.
HOW THE PANELS ABSORB SOUND
As well as the slits in the face, Groove panels have large cut-outs to the rear or the centre which meet with the slits in the front, creating perforations. These perforations, combined with a cavity behind the panel create resonance, due to the air in the cavity which acts like a spring. In combination with damping, typically provided by a layer of mineral fibre in the cavity, to reduce sound energy. This is know as a Helmholtz absorber. Changing the perforation pattern (in this case by selecting the width between the slits) alters the acoustic performance. Differences in the cavity depth and absorbent material in the void also have consequences.
PANEL SIZES
- 128mm x 2440mm x 12mm (or 15mm, 18mm as request)
FACE FINISHES
- Melaminies are available in over 50 different finishes, including timber effect and solid colours, and offer a durable, modern aesthetic.
- Veneers give the most natural finish, and can be matched to other joinery items. They generally supplied with a matt lacquer and can also be stained prior.
- Coloured lacquers Can be offered in any RAL or NCS reference, and with sheen levels from 10-50%
DESIGN OPTIONS
We aim to offer a solution with continuity across the design. This includes offering reflective panels to match the acoustic ones, fire rated acoustic doors and cupboards, flexible boards to form curves, patterned skirting to enhance the grooves, and many other trims and joinery featured to match.
FIRE PERFORMANCE
Either specified without, or with Class O (Euro Class B) performance.
WALL PANEL INSTALLATION
Groove acoustic panels are typically installed on to battens in a simple tongue and Groove fashion to create a seamless finish. The cavity should include a sound absorbing mineral fibre or foam which will increase the acoustic performance. Panels can be mounted either with the Grooves running horizontally or vertically.
SUSPENDED CEILINGS
For ceilings, the same approach can be taken and applied plywood strips which are in turn fixed to an MF system (ceilings). The planks are glued and pinned through the grooves, with mineral fibre in the cavity created to increase sound absorption. Fibre migration is controlled with an acoustically transparent black fleece integrated with panels.
Left: A typical installation with panels mounted on 50mm softwood battens, black tissue to the rear of the panels and 50mm of mineral fibre in the cavity.
